GGA Partner Speaks at Ridgeway Center for Securities Studies, US - Iran Relations: Opportunities and Challenges
Pittsburgh (US) Oct 2016 - Roozbeh Aliabadi, Managing Partner of GGA spoke to a selected group of academic and researchers at Matthew B. Ridgeway Center for International Security Studies on ramifications of US - Iran relations post-JCPOA. Despite inflated hopes of the nuclear deal or the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) significant challenges and deep mistrust remain between Tehran and Washington. Today, Iran's growing influence, more noticeable after the nuclear deal, is at odds with the US interest in the Middle East. Leadership of both countries, early in the negotiations realized, it would be impossible to have a permanent deal. Therefore Washington views the deal as a 15 years deal and Tehran views it as a 25 years deal. Although the deal remains fragile, one of its greatest achievement is breaking the Iranian and revolutionary taboo "Direct Talk with the US". National security establishment in Tehran and Washington view the nuclear deal as a narrow deal without addressing non-nuclear issues. Although, the Deal has tremendous diplomatic value for the future, Washington and Tehran realize the true nature of the deal is an arms control deal. In the short-term neither sides are interested to expand the mission of the nuclear deal. Tehran believes, the Deal has been more successful in the US and not perceived as successful in Iran. Iran as a country is not sanctioned but all transactions with Iran remain sanctioned. The nuclear deal has also escalated the tension in the Middle East. It has caused a psychological shift in the balance of power among Arab nations. As Obama Administration is distancing itself from the Middle East, it has made the problems in the region more profound, and is risking further turmoil. Click here to watch the speech.
GGA Partner Speaks at University of Pittsburgh on Iran, Silk Road and Future of Connectivity
Pittsburgh (US) Oct 2016 - Roozbeh Aliabadi, Managing Partner of GGA spoke to an academic audience at University of Pittsburgh on Centra Asian Silk Road and how integration and connectivity can enhance the future of security and stability. Today it is not ideology but the promise of privileged access to resources and infrastructure that shapes geo-strategic maneuvering in Central Asia. In fact today, nothing tells us more about the future of geopolitics in Central Asia than tracing infrastructure plans on the ground. For landlocked countries of Central Asia, connectivity is strategy. As for China, its strategy isn’t to formally occupy these Asian countries but to ease passage across them. It wins the new Great Game by building the new Silk Roads. Today Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank is budgeted to spend about ten times as much in Asia as the Marshall plan spent in Europe. So this competition over connectivity is indeed reducing Central Asia’s collective risk. It is the regional connectivity not hegemony that is contributing to its future stability. And therefore Central Asian map of the future will feature more connections and fewer divisions. Click here to watch the speech.

Moscow and Tehran will no be affected in 'oil war' as OPEC meeting nears
Vienna (Austria) Nov 2014 - In an opinion piece - GGA Managing Partner - Roozbeh Aliabadi discusses how in recent months markets have witnessed a more noticeable decline in oil prices, mainly due to a combination of oversupply and the weakening demand growth as OPEC meeting on November 27th 2014 nears in Vienna. According to Mr. Aliabadi "Neither Moscow nor Tehran will collapse tomorrow in this oil war. And if prices fall below $70 we will see a drop in US production, as some exploration won't be cost effective and therefore prices could certainly firm up once again." He further adds that in the case of Iran, the current descent in oil prices is not likely to drive the country to strike a nuclear deal with the West by Nov 24th deadline. Some would argue it might push Iran into greater compromise if the talks are extended and the low prices persisit. It should be recognized that Iran has become more resilient to the oil prices . Boeing, Airbus, Embraer, Bombardier, AVICand other aircraft manufacturers are also receiving invitations to attend the Airshow, now presented with the prospect of selling a large, diverse array of much needed aircraft to a once sophisticated aviation market. Makers of avionics and maintenance equipment can too seize upon this opportunity, while simultaneously helping to shore up the safety record of Iranian air carriers and improve the experience of the thousands of people who depend upon it everyday. Roozbeh Aliabadi - Managing Partner of GGA - also appointed by Iran's Civil Aviation Authority to lead this initiative said "Although the language of sanctions relief is not entirely precise, but we believe it could also lead to new market prospects for makers of airport facilities equipment. Upgrades to air traffic control systems would help to improve efficient, reduce congestion, and lower the risk of accidents in Iranian Airspace, while new security systems would help mitigate threats to international civil aviation." A complete reversal of economic sanctions against Iran, in the short term, may be a far off possibility, but we believe these selective openings have the chance to simultaneously offer new market opportunities for many firms while improving the lives of ordinary Iranians. - For more information visit www.iran-airshow.ir or contact us: [email protected]

GGA Participates in a Media Debate to Discuss the U.S. Government Shutdown
Tehran (Iran) October 2013 - After 16 days of bitter partisanship, the US Congress approves a bill to fully reopen the government and avoid defaulting on its debt. President Obama signs it into law, but it may only be a temporary fix. "Surely markets have by now priced in deep Washington dysfunctionality, rapid fiscal consolidations, and even the new norm of debt-ceiling gamesmanship." Roozbeh Aliabadi discussed in a live Press TV debate. "The question is whereto perception s of this risk have gone up. Treasury payments can't be trusted entirely, then not only do all risk instruments need to be repriced, but so does the most basic counter party risk of all. This could have catastrophic ramifications for the global economy." Aliabadi added. Click here to Watch the debate
GGA Managing Partner Appears on PressTV to Talk About Iran's Newly Introduced ETF
Tehran (Iran) September 2013 - GGA Managing Partner - Roozbeh Aliabadi - speaks with PressTV about the newly introduced Exchange Traded Funds in the Iranian Stock Exchange. Stock exchange in Iran dates back to 46 years ago when Tehran Exchange Market was established as the country's largest stock exchange. But in 2009, Iran Fara Bourse Company was established as one of the main steps for developing capital-market in Iran and diversifying financial instruments traded in the securities market. Farabourse operates under official supervision of Securities and Exchange Organization. Farabourse operates as self regulatory organization governing the activities of its brokers and members. One of the most recent services the company has provided for the investors is the Exchange-traded funds or the ETFs. ETFs are a type of financial instruments whose unique advantages over mutual funds have caught the eyes of many investors. The ETFs are the best places for those who know very little about exchange market but are interested in buying and selling stocks and bonds. Unlike a mutual fund that has its net-asset value or NAV calculated at the end of each trading day, an ETFs price changes throughout the day, fluctuating with supply and demand. By owning an ETF, investors get the diversification of an index fund plus the flexibility of a stock. Click Here to Watch the Interview

GGA has been appointed to invite two key United States Senators to visit Iran in November 2014
Tehran (Iran) Sept 2014 - Director General of Iran International Airshow and Iran's Civil Aviation sector have taken the decision to invite two key members of the United States Senate. Senators Maria Cantwell and Kelly Ayotte - Chairwoman and Ranking Member of Sub-committee on Aviation Operations, Safety and Security are receiving invitations to visit Iran this November. "We firmly believe, the Airshow represents a potential opportunity, albeit a challenging one, for both Iranian airlines and the international aviation industry." According to Bijan Bonakdar - Director General of the Airshow.
